Take a musical journey with the Palmyra Eagle Community Band for the 2018 summer “Pops” season and “Around the World in 80 Ways.” Hop into our musical travel balloon as we take audiences on a mystical, magical, musical journey from England to India to South America. Our band balloon will then bring us back to America where we will visit “The Big Apple” with a musical salute that runs from Central Park through Lincoln Center to the very streets of New York. Our journey will then take us to the very cradle of American Liberty: Philadelphia and Independence Hall where we will musically meet the people who crafted the Declaration of Independence! Special in-flight offerings will include the music of Henry Mancini, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Richard Rogers and Frank Sinatra. A tribute to the Centennial of the birth of the great American composer Leonard Bernstein will be a special highlight.
Bandmaster Ed Pierce will have his usual flight crew: Jim Neist and the “Kettle Moraine Blues,” sax soloist Ellie Hawes as well as the superb vocal artistry of Kim “Kimbirdlee” Fadner, who will ensure that each musical passenger is properly cared for with the finest music possible. Band dancers Josh & Caitlin Voigt will entertain one and all as they “cut a rug” with music from Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand!” It will be a journey you won’t forget! Pack your bag chair, bring a cooler and enjoy this musical “flight of fancy.” No boarding pass is required! (IT IS ALL FREE!)
Returning for another great show!!
Twist & Shout is a “soundalike” Beatles Tribute band. We don’t do the phony British accents or “wear hair.” Instead, we use authentic Rickenbacker, Gretsch and Hofner guitars and VOX amps, along with Ludwig drums, and focus on the tight harmonies that made the Beatles music so great. We’ll also tell you lots of insights to the Beatles and their recordings, along with great trivia, during a show. Keyboardist Bob Dobro adds all the many sounds the Beatles came up with in the studio, so we can do the entire Beatles catalog, many of which never were performed on stage.
The group was founded in 2000 and is based in Chicago, where they have performed at area clubs, concert series, and summerfests as well as venues like Navy Pier, White Sox Park, SoxFest.
Trevor Baxter will show us the moves to make on the floor.

“The Salute to Lady Liberty”
It began as a gift to Mrs. Lincoln. Today it is a background prop for selling car insurance. It’s meaning remains undiminished! The Statue of Liberty stands as “The lamp beside the Golden Door” as it welcomes all to “the last best hope on earth”! The generations that came through Ellis Island saw this marvelous edifice as their first glimpse of freedom! It is the enduring symbol of “We The People”!
In honor of our nations independence, we take a musical salute to Lady Liberty. Nearly every great American composer has honored her: Bernstein, Miranda, Williams, Rogers & Hammerstein and Sousa. A rich “red white and blue musical tapestry” of American Music will recount her timeless story.
A “Star Spangled” evening of patriotic joy awaits one and all. Bandmaster Ed Pierce promises to bring all of the musical talents of the Palmyra-Eagle Community Band to bear to bring to audiences a truly “Star Spangled Flag Waving Night”! On hand will be various instrumental soloists, our magnificent dance team, the superb “Kettle Moraine Blues” and the majestic vocal talents of our soloist in residence Kim “Kimbirdlee” Fadner.
Come one and all for an evening of music designed to move every American heart.
